Retour Foundation lobbies for responsible tourism and sustainable tourism development especially in developing countries. Empowerment and participation of local communities and support of micro-entrepreneurs and NGO's are a means to that: research, project development and implementation and consultancy are the tools.
Retour is also involved in awareness raising projects directed to government, private sector and travelers in geneneral in the Netherlands and Europe. Retour is a member of international networks like the CSD Tourism-caucus, ECPAT, ECTWT, TEN and is involved in multistakeholder discussions and initiatives on sustainable tourism organised by WTO and UNEP.
